1 1/8" wide

CONDITION
Excellent. No chips to the Niello. Clasp in excellent working condition.

MORE HISTORY
With the mark Siam Sterling we know that this piece is no earlier than the mid 1950s. At that point many of the houses that produced Niello began to stamp out their pieces. By doing so it provided a blank that then was filled with Niello and finished off. In some cases additional handwork would be done to embellish the open work that is often found or some touch up on the figures.

How can you tell if it is hand carved or stamped? First hold it up to the light. Does it sparkle? If so then study it with a 10x loupe. You will see that the carvings are a v shape. Don't confuse that with a soft scoop shape. That soft scoop shape means that the piece was pressed.

There is nothing wrong with a pressed piece jut expect to pay more for a piece that is hand decorated.
